Getting Things Done

Crises can evoke calm, allowing one to enter flow state. By engaging in tasks, one can also enter flow and get things done.

Framework for productivity in life and work. It involves keeping track of ideas and tasks.

H2 Analysis

When it comes to creativity and productivity, time is not the problem, the problem is psychic bandwidth. Getting inspired and coming up with ideas takes zero time, whereas being overwhelmed thwarts thinking. To solve this, move management from psyche to a system (like FVC).

Two critical elements for productivity:

  • Perspective: ability to put focus on where it’s needed
  • Control: freedom to execute

H2 Solution

Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished

Mind like water

Lessons from nature:

  • Flexibility not perfection
  • Rapid shifting of attention
  • Laser focus

Main steps of Getting Things Done:

  1. Capture. This gets things off our psyche that are not on cruise control. See Everything Capturing Mechanism
  2. Process. Review the captured ideas, determine the actionability, complete rapid actions, and specify the outcome and action for other ones.
  3. Organise. Use some kind of map
  4. Review. This is similar to Alignments.
  5. Engage. Start working!
