Keyboard Switches

#wiki

They really do change how a keyboard sounds and typing feels…

⌨️: tested on a full board
❓: tested only on a limited number of switches

H2 Gateron low profile switches

  • Moss - ⌨️ - 60gf, tactile
    • Very early tactile bump
    • Rather heavy
    • Low error rate when typing
    • Deep, solid
  • Wisteria - ❓ - 55gf, tactile
    • Much lighter than Moss, despite only a 5gf difference
    • Almost feels linear
    • Smooth
  • Aloe - ❓ - 37gf, linear
    • Too light
  • Cowberry - ⌨️ - 45gf, linear
    • Smooth, creamy
    • Bottom out sound somehow has a hollowish, wood-gong (木鱼) feel
    • Delicate, sophisticated, mysterious?
  • Blue 2.0 - ⌨️ - 65gf, clicky
    • The click isn’t that loud
    • Feels less heavy than Moss despite a lower operating force
    • Somewhat scratchy after the pressure point
    • Keystroke is registered later than the click, which is annoying
    • Rather quiet other than the click sound; bottom out and reset sound perhaps quieter than Cowberry and Moss
    • Some are louder than others…

Experiments:

  • Moss (or very likely any other tactile/linear) can be converted into clicky by sticking the clicker (not sure what it’s called but the thing that makes the click sound) from Blue 2.0 into the same place in Moss.
  • After removing the clicker from Blue 2.0… it feels like Cowberry—similar force, though with a slightly mushier sound.

H2 Normal Profile

  • TTC Brown - ⌨️ - tactile
    • Works fine; nothing special, it seems
    • Strength of tactile bump similar to Wisteria
    • Tactile bump happens much later than Moss
