Bon vs Bien en Francais

Bon and bien can both be adjective and adverb (and noun), so it’s rather confusing.

H2 Adjective case

Bon is usually used to modify a noun, whereas bien is used with copular verbs1

So, we have

Il a une bonne idée.

Son idée marche bien.

H2 Adverb case

Use bon as adverb after sentir, faire, tenir to mean that it’s pleasant

Otherwise use bien

When used as adjective, bien is invariant
